Hana Yoon — ER doctor, single mother — brings her five-year-old daughter Mia to the hospital for emergency surgery on an abscess. The surgeon on call is Liam Wescott: her ex, the man she left in Boston five and a half years ago without telling him she was pregnant. She'd written a letter. He never called. She assumed that was his answer. In the hospital waiting room, Liam figures out who Mia is within twenty minutes of meeting her — the child has his grandmother's eyes. He tells Hana he never received any letter. The trail leads quickly to Sienna Park, his executive assistant and fiancée, who intercepted the letter during the penthouse-to-Cambridge move, read it, and made a decision to keep it. She's been carrying the letter in her bag ever since. Liam confronts Sienna, gets the letter, and begins the process of ending the engagement — which is complicated by Sienna's role on three Wescott Medical board committees and the acquisition in progress.
